4 authors/composers go head to head in thankless combat. The four belligerents will be confronted with plenty of rhymes, octosyllables and no shortage of slang. More to make you laugh than tremble, more to convince than win you over, this “Grand Battle” brings the forgotten members of the Star Ac’ back to pride of place: songwriters.

Principle: As when improvising, each writer makes a special effort to fill time with a singsong: a parody of known songs, exquisite corpses, puns… The writing takes place before the public’s very eyes, whilst one of the writers/singers presents something from their repertoire.

Based on the idea of Sabine Cazenave, the Director of the Musées d’Amiens and Barbara Dennys, the Director of ESAD (Ecole Supérieure d’ Art et de Design)

As part of the nuit blanche 2009, the Bibliothèque Louis Aragon, in partnership with the Musée de Picardie and ESAD brings you a selection of videos from contemporary artists on loan from the Fonds National d’Art Contemporain (F.N.A.C.). Amongst them: Nil Yalter, or even Eleanor Antin. They contributed towards the development of video as a design medium. The videos shown will have to do with the body or writing.
Films will be shown at the beginning of each session by Pascale Cassagnau, Inspector of artistic design (Délégation aux arts plastiques).

A room you cannot enter, a hospital room in Chinese shades. You do not know whether the patient is resting or whether he is fighting himself. You need to keep your voice down so as not to wake him. Pictures are projected onto the walls, at the pace of a beating heart.

Room 1: Mes Petites Societes

Sure to make you tremble; the visitor who trembles most takes control of the generation of digital objects symbolising individuals within a social ecosystem. Several pictures come together, all the time.

Room 2: TOC

Behaviour in an artistic setting (museum, arts centre, anywhere), questioning social attitude, customary in this particular situation; visitors are thus sent back home and back to their friends and family; how can this happen? the speed at which visitors travel: if the visitors move at normal museum-visiting pace, nothing happens: if visitors slow up without stopping or speed up, go faster, then cubes emerge from the floor following them, the visitor’s picture encrusted in each cube.

Room 3: Oh Ma Tele Featuring Zelie

An interactive clip from a song, offering the choice of order or disorder; visitors decide what will happen, throughout the song: interactivity is controlled by detecting the fattest visitor or group of visitors: group preponderance on the individual.
