About

This year’s White Night will bring you a brand new offer. The all night festival starts at 5pm and finishes at 6am. This year’s Nuit Blanche/White Night 2009 is the culmination of a partnership started a number of years ago with Brighton & Hove in the UK. The European project which runs until 2011 will build strong links between the French and English public and artists, and it is an opportunity for cultural organisations and artists to develop new projects. The 2009 program is the result of close collaborations between artists, officers in cultural services and arts and creative industries departments that have organised an all-through the night series of performances (music, visual arts, video, …).

We wanted to organise an event which was accessible to the public whilst at the same time bringing innovation to the fore. We also wanted Amiens artists and Amiens Métropole cultural spaces to be open and accessible to the public throughout the Nuit Blanche. Also thanks to the various location teams, the programmers, the National Centre of Plastic Arts, the city of Metz with which we have worked with closely and all those who in one way or another have contributed to the success of this great event.

Hopefully, you will discover many new art forms during this Nuit Blanche / White Night 2009.

Alain David Vice-president of Amiens Métropole in charge of culture.

Following 20 years of cooperation, The Brighton & Hove and Amiens Métropole partnership continues to flourish, particularly in projects promoting street arts and reading, and Nuit Blanche/White Night is testament to this. Furthermore, Nuit Blance/White Night is being funded by the European program INTERREG IVA France (Manche) – England, ERDF.

Whether it is an exchange of ideas, exchange of artists, cultural discovery, or discovery of our joint heritage, lots of nice surprises await you at the Anglo-French festival.

After Amiens Nuit Blanche, go to Brighton White Night on 24th October.
